Id say its one of the biggest, just because kobe ruined the whole team, so he could have it his way, and then he got it and now he wants out. he didnt like shaq, so they got rid of him. he didnt like the coaching staff, and that problem was also resolved. all the organization did for him, and he shows no appreciation to the city or fans

When Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlin, %26amp; Shaquille O'neal got traded. They were not the best players in baskeetball, they were not with biggest contracts valued at $136.8 million, they didnt have the option to go where ever they wanted, they did not have #1 Jersey sales in the world, and most importanlty they were not young.

Kobe Bryant has and is all of these things, thus making him the biggest trade in NBA history. Also he is the most controversial player in sports as well, it would make so much buzz that would be both negative anf positive.
I can think of three bigger trades involving the Lakers, alone. It wouldnt' even be the biggest trade in Lakers history this decade.

I'd put it behind the trade of Shaq from LA to Miami.

And I'd put it way behind the trade of Wilt Chamberlain from 76ers to LA.

I think Abdul-Jabbar was also traded. He had won one championship with Milwaukee and then won 5 more with LA.

Chamberlain and Abdul-Jabbar were both traded. Chamberlain was so dominant that the NBA had to change the rules. Jabbar was so dominant that the NCAA had to change the rules.
Shaq being traded influenced the league more. Miami won a championship within 2 years and the Lakers have been relatively woeful since he left. The places Kobe wants to go to, he probably would not turn them into championship teams immediately and the Lakers won't plummet as badly as when Shaq left. They'll go from a B to a C when Kobe leaves instead of going from an A to a D when Shaq left.

Well it would have to be. Right now I think the biggest trade was when Red Auerbach traded Ed Macauley to St. Louis for the rights to draft Bill Russell. The rest is history. Russell won 11 championships in 13 seasons. By the way Ed Macauley won the first NBA All Star Game MVP in 1951.

I mean, Kareem was playing for the Lakers long after the other guys retired!

2) Oscar Robertson traded to Milwaukee for G Flynn Robinson and F Charlie Paulk on April 20, 1970. Robertson and Kareem win the title right after.

3) Moses Malone to Philadelphia for Caldwell Jones and a first round pick. Malone wins championship, regular season MVP and finals MVP afterwards.

I noted the above three trades because they were lopsided and had immediate and/or lasting impact.

Kobe being traded? we'll have to see WHO he is traded for and what the result it.

Also, Kobe was NEVER MVP. Moses Malone, Kareem, Oscar Robertson and Wilt were MVP by the time they were traded, were considered among the greatest EVER. Kareem and Wilt had already won championships by the time they were traded. Championships when they were the main guy and not second banana like Kobe.

Not young? Chamberlain and Kareem were both 28 when they were traded. Same age as Kobe now.
